Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Fashion Elite Wear Blackface To Africa Themed Halloween Party In Milan (PHOTOS)

Add this year’s annual fashion Halloween party to the list of offenses committed against blacks by Italy, the Florida of Europe.

Last weekend, the Italian fashion elite decided it would be OK to paint their skin black and brown for a party held in Milan. Designer Allesandro Dell’Acqua attended dressed as a minstrel complete with white gloves, white mouth and blackface, weeks after Naomi Campbell, Iman and Bethann Hardison called out the racism of New York and other Fashion Weeks, and months after Italian legistlators called its first black member of parliament a monkey and worse.

The theme of this year’s Halloween party was “Disco Africa” yet people who hold very powerful positions in the industry painted their skin brown and black and dressed as slaves and Massai and minstrels. There were even attendees in black leotards ringed with plastic bananas, we guess in homage to Josephine Baker?

Russian photographer Zhanna Romashka photographed the event and posted pictures to her blog. After an alarm was made about the blackface photos, she took them down. Anna Dello Russo’s Instagram is now private after she received commentary about the offensive images. Luckily FashionBombDaily captured the photos before they were taken down.

Check out some the photos below.
