A trangender model who was disqualified from the 2013 Miss Universe competition is featured in the latest issue of Elle Canada.
According to Fashionista, Jenna Talackova was unceremoniously disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada pageant because she was born a male, despite the fact that she’d undergone gender-reassignment surgery at the age of 19. Now, at 25, Talackova is helping to bring global awareness to this issue, with her upcoming reality show called Brave New Girls (slated to air on E! Canada), and a fashion spread in the Jan. 2014 issue of Elle Canada (via Huffington Post).
We have a feeling that 2014 will be the year of the transgender model. Stay tuned.
