Gold is the name of the first fragrance hawked by rapper turned mogul Jay Z. The announcement came a few hours ago and, allegedly, Mr. Carter rejected over 3000 names before settling on the most desired mineral on the planet.
I imagine this fragrance smelling like Lou Rawls after a show: masculine, sensual, wet. But press notes say different. The fragrance is made of “yellow ginger, white cardamom and grapefruit with a hint of blueberry. At the heart, a refined infusion of violet leaf, cypress, lavender and luxurious vetiver with a thread of pink pepper gives a tailored, modern signature. A rich note crafted with golden amber, patchouli, teak and bourbon vanilla give a final shot of gilded sensuality.”
Yeah, Lou Rawls.
Gold was designed to smell “ultra luxurious,” and was created with Firmenich perfumer Ilias Ermenidis. It will be available at Barneys November 20. The bottle looks like it was inspired by Tom Ford or an alcohol flask.
