Pervy Porno Pioneer Al Goldstein Dead At 77 (DETAILS)

Before the Internet there was SCREW, a filthy New York based newspaper that revolutionized porno mags.

Founded by Al Goldstein in 1968, the paper put sex, filthy, dirty, in your face, heterosexual sex, in your face without the dressing. Think Playboy mag’s younger, raunchy brother. Better still, imagine Playboy as Miss Manners and Goldstein’s SCREW as Courtney Love.

SCREW was the only publication of its kind offering reviews on porno theaters, massage parlors and sex toys, to name a few. It was most likely responsible for putting Deep Throat on the map, making it the most successful porno in the world. This was its Manifesto: “We promise never to ink out a pubic hair or chalk out an organ,We will apologize for nothing. We will uncover the entire world of sex. We will be the Consumer Reports of sex.”

And for a while, it was.

Goldstein died of kidney failure according to his lawyer.
